Hal Leonard Europe teams up with Together with Music and UK Music to support Thank You Day

London, UK, 01 July 2021 – leading music publisher Hal Leonard Europe (HLE) has teamed up with Together with Music and UK Music to support Thank You Day, a nationwide celebration taking place on 4 July. Thank You Day will be the UK’s biggest-ever Thank You Party – an opportunity to express gratitude to the significant people in everyone’s lives after such a difficult 18 months, whether friends, family, colleagues, carers, teachers, the NHS – anyone who has made an impact.

On Thank You Day, people all across the UK are encouraged to organise ‘Thank You’ parties in whatever form they like in their local communities, with up to 16m people expected to take part. There is also a nationwide timetable of events to participate in, including a musical moment at 3pm where individuals, choirs, bands and music groups are invited to get together and sing or play the Christine McVie (Fleetwood Mac) classic ‘Don’t Stop’. Led by Together With Music, hundreds of community choirs and schools plan to sing outside care homes and hospitals to thank residents, patients and staff for everything they have given over the past year. Also, a new version of the song has been recorded by an all-star line-up including Jamie Callum, The Feeling and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

With the support of Hal Leonard and Sheet Music Direct, Thank You Day participants can stream sheet music arrangements of ‘Don’t Stop’ to prepare their performances by using Sheet Music Direct PASS, with 30 days’ free access. (www.sheetmusicdirect.com). A specially prepared song sheet with lyrics and chords for the song is also available for Together with Music singers which can be accessed here.

Thank You Day is going to be a wonderful and poignant occasion and performing ‘Don’t Stop’ will be a perfect way to celebrate the day. Hal Leonard Europe’s mission is for lifelong music making for everyone, and we’re delighted to support such an inspirational initiative to get people playing and singing together.”

Tom Farncombe, Business Development Director, Hal Leonard Europe

“Music has the power to connect us, and we need that now more than ever. We’re pleased to be supporting Thank You Day and I know care homes and schools up and down the country will be singing out ‘Don’t Stop’ at the top of their lungs on the 4th! Thank You Day will also kick off a month-long song-writing tour across the UK, using music to celebrate people, inclusion and connection.”
