Principle Duties and Responsibilities
At Hal Leonard, we publish and distribute an extensive catalogue of printed and digital publications, sheet music, music education resources, instruments, pro audio, gifts and accessories. Our printed music catalogue represents many of the world’s best known and most respected music publishers, songwriters, authors, artists and instrument manufacturers, as well as featuring many of the leading and most successful music education methods and resources used by today’s teachers and students in Europe and around the world.
We are looking for a Music Editor to join our central London office team. The Music Editor, working closely with our international affiliate editorial teams, will play a key part in product creation and coordinate a wide variety of editorial and production projects simultaneously, particularly in our educational publication categories. You’ll edit music notation and written text for instrumental methods, songbooks, classroom resources and digital music publications. You will have a knowledge of a wide spectrum of musical genres and an understanding of the current music education environment in the UK.
You’ll have previous experience in commissioning and editing music and text, a music degree or equivalent and have achieved an outstanding ability level on either piano or guitar. A high competence in music theory is essential and you will also be able to demonstrate excellent music transcribing skills.
