Hal Leonard Announces The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology – Volume 8

London, 23 March —For nearly four decades, The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology has been a cornerstone of vocal training and audition preparation. Since the first volume was published in 1986, the series has become a trusted resource in vocal studios, conservatories, and professional rehearsal rooms around the world, widely regarded as one of the most authoritative collections of musical theatre repertoire available.

Each volume in the series is offered in four voice ranges—soprano, mezzo-soprano/belter, tenor, and baritone/bass—and features carefully curated selections for singers from high school through the professional level. A defining feature of the series is its thoughtful balance of contemporary musical theatre alongside beloved classics. All songs are authentically presented from the original vocal scores, with piano accompaniments designed to support the singer while preserving the integrity of the original Broadway arrangements. In keeping with the tradition of the series, no song is ever repeated from previous volumes.

Hal Leonard is proud to continue this legacy with the release of The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology – Volume 8. Edited by Brendan Fox—who was mentored for the role by series founder Richard Walters—the new volumes include songs from recent musicals such as Diana: The Musical, The Great Gatsby, How to Dance in Ohio, Mean GirlsThe Notebook, The Outsiders, Some Like It Hot, and Suffs, along with standout selections from many Broadway favorites not previously included in the anthology.

“For generations of singers, The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology has been the starting point for discovering great repertoire,” said editor Brendan Fox. “With Volume 8, we wanted to continue that tradition by introducing songs from exciting new shows while also bringing in classic material that singers and teachers have long hoped to see included in the series.”

Separate piano accompaniment tracks are also available to support practice and performance.

Whether preparing students for auditions, lessons, competitions, or performance, Volume 8 is an essential addition to every singer’s library. All the volumes are now available at music and bookstores everywhere or at halleonard.com.
