About Editio Musica Budapest Zeneműkiadó:

Originally the Hungarian State Music Publisher founded in 1950, Editio Musica Budapest Zeneműkiadó was the legal successor of all previous music publishers in Hungary. The EMB catalogue contains approximately 5000 active entries and over 10,000 compositions. Their main publications include the great classical, 20th-Century and contemporary Hungarian composers, like Liszt, Bartók, Kodály, Dohnányi, Weiner, Farkas and Kurtág, among others.

In 2017, its owner made a decision to create two legal successors from the existing EMB: Universal Music Publishing Editio Musica Budapest Zeneműkiadó Kft (UMPEMB) and Editio Musica Budapest Zeneműkiadó Kft (EMBZ). The copyrights for 20th century music as well as contemporary works remained under the purview of UMPEMB.

The publishing rights of the remaining thousands of pedagogical publications (as well as those of the scholarly Liszt and Bartók Complete Critical Editions) were transferred to the newly reestablished Editio Musica Budapest Zeneműkiadó Kft. (EMBZ). EMBZ produces and distributes not only its own scores, but also those of UMPEMB.
